Women's Track & Field Concludes Action at Pepsi Florida Relays

Sharks record two Top-20 finishes

athletic pic Gainesville, Fla. (Apr. 4, 2009) - Nova Southeastern University's men's and women's track and field teams ended competition on Saturday at the Pepsi Florida Relays at the Percy Beard Track.

On the women's side, NSU finished among the top-20 in two events. The sprint medley relay team placed 15th with a time of 4:09.88. Krystal Porter (Jr., Raytown, Mo.) ran 19:04.49 in the open 5,000 meters and was 20th. Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay team was 28th with a time of 48.36.

For the men, there were two top-10 showings. The sprint medley relay team was 10th with a time of 3:33.12. Michael Wilson (Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) tied with Alabama's David Chaplin for 10th-place in the 200 meters invitational, clocking a time of 21.30.

In the 5,000 meters, Agustin Rey (So., Coral Springs) paced the Sharks with a time of 15:29.92 and a 16th-place showing. John Besharat (Jr., Miami, Fla.) ran 16:02.03 and was 29th, while Jonathan Junkins (Fr., Lecanto, Fla.) placed 36th with a time of 16:39.78.

NSU is back in action next weekend when the Sharks participate in two meets. NSU will compete at Tampa and the Miami Elite.
