NSU Leads Shark Invitational After One Round Of Play
Sharks Lead Rollins By Three Strokes
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2009) - The Nova Southeastern University women's golf team leads by three strokes as host of the NSU Shark Invitational, held at the par 72, 6,163 yard Palmer Course at PGA National. Fellow SSC members Rollins and Barry stand in second and third place, three and eight strokes back respectively. Junior All-American Taylor Collins (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) led the charge for the Sharks as she stands second among all individuals with an even-par 72. Two-time NCAA Division II National Player of the Year Sandra Changkija (Jr., Orlando, Fla.) is tied for fourth place, just two strokes back. Three-time All-American Maria Garcia-Austt (Sr., Montevideo, Uruguay) stands in ninth place with a three over-par 75. Freshman Abbey Gittings (Tamworth, England) is tied for 10th place with a 76 while Fredrika Hakansson (So., Coral Springs, Fla.) is tied for 13th at four over-par.
Rollins' Joanna Coe paces the field with her opening round 70. Barry's Cristina Coll concluded the first day in third place with a 73.
Florida Southern (307) and Indianapolis (315) rounded out the top five. Saint Leo (321), Embry-Riddle (324), Northwood-Fla. (324), Seminole CC (327), Lynn (329), Florida Tech (344), Pfeiffer (347) and Rend Lake (352) were also in competition.
The second and final round of the Shark Invitational will begin at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, October 13th.
