NSU Women's Golf Leads USF/Waterlefe Invitational

Junior All-American Taylor Collins Paces The Field

athletic pic Bradenton, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2009)  The Nova Southeastern University women's golf leads the USF/Waterlefe Invitational by three strokes after two rounds and one day of play at the par-72, 5,998 Waterlefe Golf Club.

The Sharks (589) lead Campbell (592) by three strokes. Tournament host South Florida (595) trails by six strokes after leading following the first round. Stetson (598) and Daytona State (608) round out the top five. Junior All-American Taylor Collins (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) stole the show on the first day, firing a two under-par 70 in the first round and a three under-par 69 in the second round to lead all individuals.

Freshman Abbey Gittings (Tamworth, England) stands in a tie for 11th place at five over-par. All-Americans Sandra Changkija (Jr., Orlando, Fla.) and Maria Garcia-Austt (Sr., Montevideo, Uruguay) are tied for 16th place at seven over-par. Junior Fredrika Hakansson (Vero Beach, Fla.)follows in 45th place at 13 over-par.

The Sharks along with the rest of the 17-team field will resume play on Tuesday morning, beginning with an 8:30 AM shotgun start.
