Women's Cross Country's Porter Garners Second SSC Runner of the Week

Porter earns Runner of the Week second time in career

athletic pic Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2009) - Nova Southeastern University women's cross country's Krystal Porter (Sr., Raytown, Mo.) was tabbed the Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Monday.

It is the second time this season in which Porter was named SSC Runner of the Week. She received the honor on Sept. 14 after a fourth-place finish at the UCF Black & Gold Invitatioanl

Porter paced the Sharks to a fourth-place team finish on Friday at the flrunners.com Invitational 10. Porter finished 11th overall, covering the 5K course in a time of 19:06.32. Her time was a season-best for the 5K, taking 44 seconds off her previous season-best time of 19:50.71 ran at the Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 18.

NSU is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when the Sharks travel to Lake Buena Vista, Fla., for the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic. The men's 8K race is scheduled for 7:45 a.m., while the women's 5K is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
