Women's Basketball's Sarosi Earns Daktronics All-Region Honors

Sarosi receives first consecutive First-Team All-Region honors in NSU history

(Mar. 12, 2009) - After being announced as a finalist for the 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team presented by the WBCA, Nova Southeastern University women's basketball's Stephanie Sarosi (Jr., Mims, Fla.) was selected to the Daktronics All-South Region First Team. Sarosi, who earned the same honor last season, becomes the first NSU player to be named to Daktronics First-Team All-South Region in straight seasons.

Sarosi will now be listed on the national ballot for consideration of the 2008-09 Daktronics Women's Basketball All-America Team, which will be announced next week.

Sarosi concluded the 2008-09 campaign with 621 points, becoming the first NSU player to score over 600 points in a single season. Starting in all 29 games, she averaged 21.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. For the second-straight season, she shot over .500 from the field. Sarosi shot .529 percent, going 262-for-495. In the latest set of NCAA statistics that include games through Mar. 8, Sarosi ranks third nationally for blocked shots per game (3.0), 13th in points per game (21.4) and 37th in field goal percentage (52.9).

Sarosi was naned Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year and to the All-SSC First Team last Thursday as well as earned All-SSC Tournament honors on Sunday. She was named SSC Player of the Week three times during the 2008-09 season and was also selected as the DII Bulletin Player of the Month for January.
