Women's Basketball's Sarosi Named Finalist for WBCA All-America Honors
Sarosi one of 41 players to be considered for 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team
Atlanta, Ga. (Mar. 10, 2009) - Nova Southeastern University women's basketball's Stephanie Sarosi (Jr., Mims, Fla.) is one of 41 finalists for the 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced on Tuesday. Only 10 players are named to the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team. Voting is done by the WBCA member coaches within the eight geographic regions. The 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team will be announced at the Division II Women's Basketball Banquet on Monday, Mar. 23 in San Antonio, Texas.
Sarosi is one of five players representing Region 5 and is the only player from a Sunshine State Conference school. She joins Delta State sophomore Sarita Cooper, West Georgia seniors Dominic Cranford and Ashley Huff and Arkansas Tech senior Amanda Grappe as the Region 5 finalists.
Sarosi concluded the 2008-09 campaign with 621 points, becoming the first NSU player to score over 600 points in a single season. Starting in all 29 games, she averaged 21.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. For the second-straight season, she shot over .500 from the field. Sarosi shot .529 percent, going 262-for-495. In the latest set of NCAA statistics that include games through Mar. 8, Sarosi ranks third nationally for blocked shots per game (3.0), 13th in points per game (21.4) and 37th in field goal percentage (52.9).
