Ann Walker, Associate Director of Athletics/Compliance and SWA Ann Walker, who was named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator at Nova Southeastern University in Sept. 2006, has recently been promoted to Associate Athletic Director for the Sharks, announced by Athletic Director Michael Mominey.

"Ann has done an outstanding job for the university and the athletic department during her tenure. She is deserving of this promotion as has contributed immensely to the success of the athletic program over the past couple of years, Mominey said.

In addition to her administrative duties at Nova Southeastern, Walker served as the South Region Chair of the NCAA Division II Women's basketball committee until April, 2008 when she was named the national chair, a position she will hold until the conclusion of the 2011 season. She also served on the South Region Tennis Committee since 2005. An active member of NACWAA (National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators) since 2005, Walker has also been a member of the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) since 1990.

"I am honored that Mike has extended to me the position of Associate Athletic Director. I have truly enjoyed all the experience and challenges presented, along with the support of an outstanding athletics staff and coaches," Walker said. "I love what I get to do on a daily basis, and ultimately that is in helping student-athletes and coaches achieve success in all areas. I look forward to continued efforts with our staff in aspiring to new levels and in our quest to become one of the best NCAA Division II programs in the country."

Walker came to NSU from the Sunshine State Conference, where she served as the Assistant to the Commissioner/SWA for one year. She joined the SSC staff from Minnesota State University, Mankato where she served in several different capacities since August 1998.

While at Mankato, Walker served as Assistant Athletic Director since April 2004. She was responsible for women's athletic fundraising and served as Director of the 2005 Maverick Walk for Women's Scholarships. The largest athletic fundraiser at Minnesota State, the event attracted more than 850 participants and generated over $93,000 for women's athletics.

Prior to her appointment as Assistant Athletic Director, Walker served as head women's basketball coach at MSU for six seasons. Under Walker's guidance, the Mavericks posted more than 100 wins and recorded a team grade point average of 3.4 or higher in each of her six seasons. She also served as an instructor in Minnesota State's Human Performance department.

Before joining the staff at Minnesota State, Walker served as the assistant women's basketball coach at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for three seasons. Her experience in collegiate athletics also includes four years at Teikyo Marycrest University in Davenport, Iowa, where she served as Assistant Athletic Director, head women's basketball coach and head softball coach.

Walker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Northwestern College of Orange City, Iowa and a Master of Arts degree in sport psychology from the University of Iowa.

Nova Southeastern University is a member of the NCAA Division II and Sunshine State Conference and offers student-athletes the opportunity to compete in 15 intercollegiate athletic programs.
