Summer Weissing has joined the Strength and Conditioning Dept. at Nova as a Graduate Assistant. A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Weissing played for the perennial State Championship Olympic Heights volleyball team. She was a high school All-American and member of Volleyball Magazine's elite Fab 50 (top 50 national players). She continued her volleyball career at Florida State where the two-year captain was named team MVP in 2008. Weissing broke the all-time season and career digs records during her tenure with the Seminoles. Weissing was selected as a member of the 2005 Junior National Olympic team and participated in the World Championships in Turkey. Summer credits her success on the court to the many hours of strength and conditioning training she received and desires to share her weight room knowledge with other young athletes.
Weissing has served as a coach for various camps and club programs including the Nike Sports Camps, North Florida Volleyball Academy, Ocean Breeze and Beach Dig Clubs. She also served as an intern for FOX Sports where she handled on-air reporting for the FHSAA finals in 2008, and served as a production assistant for coverage of various South Florida teams including the Marlins and Panthers.
A 2008 graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Communications, Weissing is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Athletic Administration, and seeking certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
