Eugene Canal begins his first year with the Nova Southeastern University athletic department as a sports information graduate assistant. He serves as the primary media contact for men's soccer, cheerleading, swimming and diving, and softball. Eugene comes to NSU from Newberry College where he served one year as the sports information assistant. There he served as the primary contact for volleyball, women's basketball, and tennis.
He attended St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Fla., where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree as a double major in Communication Arts and Religious Studies.
While at St. Thomas University, he served as a Sports Information Assistant and was a freelance writer for the Miami Edition of the Florida Catholic. Eugene was born in Port Jefferson, N.Y. and grew up in Parrish, Fla. where he attended Palmetto High School.
