Andrea Buenano enters her third season as part of the Nova Southeastern University athletics department and her second as the Game Operations Assistant and Athletic Camps Coordinator. Since April 2008, Buenano has helped in the operations of multiple events host at NSU. Buenano served as the tournament director of the 2008 and 2009 Shark Classic, a two-day annual volleyball tournament involving eight teams. She coordinated operations for the semifinals and finals of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament that took place at the Don Taft University Center. Buenano also oversees multiple student-workers and volunteers that help during various athletic events. As the Athletic Camps Coordinator, Buenano helps organize and facilitate the NSU's various summer camps.
Buenano previously served as NSU's Sports Information Graduate Assistant, working in that role from Aug. 2007 until assuming her current position. Buenano worked primarily on NSU's media publications, assisting in the women's tennis and softball media guides that placed second nationally in the CoSIDA Publications Contest. She was the primary contact for NSU's men's and women's cross country teams and also helped with the media relations of men's and women's soccer and softball.
Prior to NSU, Buenano worked in multiple facets within the sports industry. Buenano comes to NSU after serving as a Recreation Leader for the City of Sunrise. She was an assistant volleyball and softball coach at Coral Glades High School.
Buenano spent one year as the Youth Programs Staff Assistant for the NFL's Miami Dolphins, serving as the primary liaison between the Dolphins Youth Program Department and various local schools and organizations. Additionally, Buenano worked as a Spring Training Intern for the Baltimore Orioles in 2005. She has also done volunteer stints with the Florida Marlins and the Blades Foundation.
Buenano attended the University of South Florida and was a member of the Bulls' softball team for two years. As a freshman, she was part of the 2001 USF softball team that finished second in the Tuscaloosa, Ala. Regional. USF finished ranked 22nd in the nation that season. In both of her two years, Buenano was named a NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete and listed on the Conference-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
A current member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administration, Buenano graduated from NSU in 2005 with her bachelors in Sports and Wellness. She received her masters in Education with a specialization in Athletic Administration from NSU in 2008.
