Shelton Stevens, Interim Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Nova Southeastern University athletic director Michael Mominey announced that assistant strength and conditioning coach Shelton Stevens has been promoted to interim head strength and conditioning coach.

"We are excited that Shelton will lead our student-athletes in the area of strength training and conditioning," Mominey said. "He is very competent and capable in this area and will make a difference in the success of our program."

Stevens joined the NSU athletic staff in February, 2009 as the assistant strength and conditioning coach. He will continue his role in developing and administering year-round strength and conditioning programs for all 16 of the Sharks' athletic programs as the interim head coach.

"I am very pleased and honored to be named the interim head strength and conditioning coach here at Nova Southeastern University. Our university and athletic department has a high standard of excellence, and I will strive to keep our strength and conditioning program at the same level."

Stevens brings a wealth of experience to the NSU strength and conditioning staff. Prior to NSU, spent half a year as an intern at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge working closely with the 2009 NCAA Division I College World Series Champion baseball team and the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl Champions. Before LSU, Stevens spent a brief stint at NCAA Division I Wofford College, three years at Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida State University, where he worked with world-class sprinters and FSU's three-time track and field national champions.

Stevens is a member of the National Strength Conditioning Association (NSCA), Certified Strength Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and is a certified weightlifting coach by the United States of America Weightlifting Association (USAW). He has also been mentored by some of the greats in strength and conditioning working alongside Master's Strength Coach Jon Jost at Florida State and Director of Strength and Conditioning Tommy Moffitt and LSU.

Stevens is currently working toward a master's degree in athletic administration at Nova Southeastern.
