Softball's Bergner, Talenfeld Named JSR All-Americans

Pair among 10 position players to receive All-America honors

(July 21, 2009) - Nova Southeastern University softball's Dana Bergner (Jr., Palm Harbor, Fla.) and Rachel Talenfeld (So., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) were named 2009 College Softball All-Americans by the Jewish Sports Review. Bergner was selected to the All-America Team as the second-baseman, while Talenfeld was one of three outfielders to earn All-America distinction.

Bergner already collected Second-Team All-South Region and Second-Team All-Sunshine State Conference honors for her play at second base. For the season, Bergner had a .297 clip with 46 hits and 34 RBI. Bergner hit five sacrifice flies, which finished ranked 11th nationally and third in the SSC.

Talenfeld was a First-Team All-SSC and a NCAA South Region-2 All-Tournament Team selection in the outfield during the 2009 season. She hit .323 with 62 hits and 51 runs scored on the year. She led both the team and the SSC with 19 sacrifice hits.
