Softball's Lopez Named Daktronics Second-Team All-Region
Lopez one of 26 players named All-Region by Daktronics
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (May 13, 2009) - Nova Southeastern University softball's Lauren Lopez was selected as shortstop to the 2009 Daktronics All-South Region Second-Team. Lopez was one of 26 players to be selected to the 2009 Daktronics All-Region Teams. Lopez, who received Second-Team All-Sunshine State Conference honors at shortstop, had stellar season long in her debut season with the Sharks. She led the team in batting average (.478), runs scored (59), hits (97), doubles (14), triples (8), home runs (9), RBI (63), total bases (154), slugging percentage (.759), on-base percentage (.500), stolen bases (23) and stolen base attempts (25). Her batting average topped in the SSC and is eighth nationally. She also led the SSC in hits, stolen bases and steal attempts. She was a two-time SSC Player of the Week selection during the 2009 season.
NSU concluded the season with its best record in its NCAA history with a 49-15 mark. Additionally, the Sharks reached the postseason for the first time in its NCAA-era, advancing all the way to the championship game of the NCAA South Regional - 2.
