NSU MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO SAINT LEO 60-46
Saint Leo, FL (February 25, 2003) - The Nova Southeastern University men's basketball team (6-19) fell Tuesday evening to the Lions of Saint Leo College (7-20) 60-46 in the Marion Bowman Activities Center in Saint Leo, FL. The Knights came out strong in the first half dominating the Lions in all aspects of the game. NSU shot 57.1% from the field on 12 for 21 attempts while Saint Leo shot 26.3% on 10 for 38. The Knights also out-shot the Lions 55.6% to 27.3% from three-point range. NSU was perfect from the free-throw line, shooting 8 for 8. The Knights also held the edge on the boards 20 to 19. The half ended 37-28 in favor of the Knights.
The second half saw a different story as the Lions took control of the game. NSU committed 13 turnovers and a shot 15% from the field in the second half, while the Lions connected on 38.5% from the field and 83.3% from the charity stripe. When time elapsed, the Lions victory was sealed at 60-46.
Leading all scorers for the night was junior guard Zak Kirchgassner (Lawrenceburg, IN) with 18 points (4-6, 4-6, 6-7). Sophomore Kluis Wimbush (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) added 12 points for the Knights and senior Brandon Weiss (St. Charles, IL) finished with his 5th double-double of the season (10 points and 11 rebounds).
Senior guard Colin Shaw led the Lions with 17 points while Frank Craig contributed 14 points as well.
The Knights finish up their season when they travel to Montana next Friday to take on Montana State- Billings on March 7th and 8th. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
