Men's Track & Field Runs in Three Races on Day One at Pepsi Florida Relays

Sharks compete in the 100 and 800 meters and 4x200-meter relay

athletic pic Gainesville, Fla. (Apr. 3, 2009) - Nova Southeastern University's men's and women's track and field teams got competition underway at the Pepsi Florida Relays on Friday at the Percy Beard Track Facility. Both teams raced in three running events in first day of the two-day meet.

For the women, Roberta Fisher (Fr., Orlando, Fla.) tied for 43rd with Western Kentucky's Miaie Williams in the 100 meters, registering a time of 12.16. Meanwhile, Kyley Jorgensen (Fr., Wellington, Fla.) ran 12.52 and finished 55th in the 100 meters.

Tara Haddock (Jr., Citrus Springs, Fla.) ran 4:59.41 in the 1,500 meters, placing 32nd.

In the 4x200-meter relay, the Sharks ran 1:42.34, taking 24th in the event.

On the men's side, Michael Wilson (Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) finished third in his heat and 32nd overall in the 100 meters. Wilson had a time of 10.83.

Joe Peña (So., Jacksonville, Fla.) ran 2:02.07 and finished 43rd in the 800 meters.

The Sharks posted a 13th-place finish in the 4x200-meter relay, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:30.10.

Competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays concludes on Saturday. The women's team is scheduled to compete in four track events and one field. The men's team will have entries in three track and two field events.
