Men's Track & Field Wraps Up Competition at FSU Relays

Men register six Top-10 finishes on final day

athletic pic Tallahassee, Fla. (Mar. 28, 2009) - Nova Southeastern University's men's and women's track and field teams concluded competition at the FSU Relays on Saturday at Mike Long Track. The women's team posted seven Top-10 finishes, while the men had six on the final day.

NSU's women's team saw a pair of third-place finishes. The sprint medley relay team of Jessica James (Fr., St. Croix, US Virgin Islands), Christiana Orr (Fr., Orlando, Fla.), Stacy Daley (Jr., Orlando, Fla.) and Tara Haddock (Jr., Citrus Springs, Fla.) was third with a time of 4:24.59. Haddock also placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.57.

Also on the track, Kyley Jorgensen (Fr., Wellington, Fla.) was eighth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.16, while Roberta Fisher (Fr., Orlando, Fla.) clocked 12.26 and was ninth. The 4x100-meter relay team of Daley, Jorgensen, Orr and Fisher finished seventh with a time of 49.60.

In the field, Erin Zampell (Fr., Naples, Fla.) and Kristina Labossiere (Fr., Sunrise, Fla.) placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the discus. Zampell threw 90'1" (27.47m), while Labossiere registered a mark of 87'2" (26.58m).

For the men, the sprint medley relay team of John Crute (Jr., Miami, Fla.), Isaiah McCaskill (Fr., Tampa, Fla.), Michael Wilson (Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Chris Jacob (So., Naples, Fla.) finished second with a time of 3:39.82.

Also on the track, Wilson took fourth in the 100 meters, clocking 10.57. Joe Peña (So., Jackonsville, Fla.) and Jacob were sixth and tenth, respectively in the 800 meters. Peña had a time of 2:01.30, while Jacob ran 2:03.64. Jonathan Thiele (Fr., St. Augustine, Fla.) had a ninth-place finish in the 1,500 meters, clocking 4:30.29.

In the field, Edikan Nkan (So., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) took 10th in the discus with a throw of 107'4" (32.73m).

The Sharks are back in action next weekend for the two-day Pepsi Florida Relays. The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday from Percy Beard Track. Running events will start at 11:30 a.m., while collegiate field events begin at 5 p.m.
