NSU In Fourth Place As Hosts Of Shark Invitational
Sharks Move Up Four Places After Second Round
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2009) Lynn built on their first round lead to gain a five shot advantage over Barry heading into the final round of play at the NSU Shark Invitational, hosted by Nova Southeastern University at the par 72, 6,806 yard Haig Course at PGA National on Monday afternoon. Lynn (563) leads Barry (568) for the overall lead. The Fighting Knights tied the tournament record for a single round with a 281 in the second round. Indianapolis (587), host Nova Southeastern (595) and Johnson & Wales (595) round out the top five. Northwood-Fla. (597), St. Edward's (598), Oglethorpe (599), Embry-Riddle (599), and St. Thomas-Fla. (603) stand in the top ten. Florida Tech (611), Pfeiffer (612) and Post (625) are also in competition.
Northwood's Brett McCurdy Jr. leads all individuals at four under-par (140). The Lynn trio of Patricio Salem, Daniel Young and Steven Brame are tied for second place along with Barry's Guillermo Pumarol at three under-par (141).
Junior Michael Moore (Herts, England) paced the Sharks, totaling a two over-par 146 to stand tied for 14th. He was followed by Sophomore Ben Vertz (So., Coral Springs, Fla.), who is tied for 20th with a 147. Junior Jack Bartlett (Worthing, England) is tied for 31st (149) while senior Peter Kolosvary (Safety Harbor, Fla.) is tied for 43rd (153) and senior Byron White (Bradenton, Fla.)is tied for 58th (157).
Senior Bobby Bode (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) had the highest finish of any NSU golfer competing as an individual, posting a two over-par 145 to stand tied for 10th place. Junior Diego Lobo (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) is in a tie for 20th with a 147 while freshman Robert Galbreath (Huntington Valley, Pa.) is tied for 68th place.
The third and final round of the Shark Invitational will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, October 13th.
