Sharks Tie For 10th Place At Aflac/Cougar Invitational
Jack Bartlett Ties For 6th Place
Columbus, Ga. (Oct. 6, 2009) The Nova Southeastern University men's golf team tied for 10th place at the Aflac/Cougar Invitational, hosted by Columbus State at the Green Island Country Club. Barry (561, -7), who had four golfers finish under-par, won the Invitational by ten strokes over North Alabama (571, +3). Barton (572, +4), Valdosta State (575, +7) and Lander rounded out the top five. The Shark (581, +13) tied with Florida Southern and Georgia Southwestern for the tenth position.
Georgia Southwestern's Craig Gibson (137, -5) won the individual title after carding a final round 65. Valdosta State's Chelsey Gunn (138, -4) and Barton's Thomas Muto Jr. (139, -3) came in second and third place.
Junior Jack Bartlett (Worthing, England) led the Sharks by tying for 6th place. Bartlett led the tournament with a 68 in the first round and followed with a 73 in the second round to conclude play at one under-par.
Peter Kolosvary (Sr., Safety Harbor, Fla.) moved 24 spots up the leader board with a 70 in the second round to finish in 16th place. Sophomore Ben Vertz (Coral Springs, Fla.) shot a 77 in the second round after an even-par 71 in the first to finish 64th . Byron White (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) and Bobby Bode (Jr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) finished in 70th and 77th, respectively.
The Sharks return home to host the NSU Shark Invitational at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. from October 12-13.
