Sharks Tied For Fourth Place At Aflac/Cougar Invitational
Jack Bartlett Leads The Way For NSU
Columbus, Ga. (Oct. 5, 2009) The Nova Southeastern University men's golf team is tied for fourth place after one day of play at the Aflac/Cougar Invitational, hosted by Columbus State at the Green Island Country Club. Rain delayed the start of the golf tournament and that delay caused a stoppage of play because of darkness at the end of the day. Three groups were still on the course and will finish on Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 AM, followed by the second round of play.
North Alabama is the leader in the clubhouse after scoring a team round of 280 (-4). Barry completed its round at 283 (-1) and ended the day tied with Barton College pending their finish of the first round. NSU (+2) and Lander each shot 286 and stand tied for fourth place.
Byron Newton of Lander leads all individuals after a round of 67 (-4). He is one shot ahead of Jack Bartlett (Jr., Worthing, England), Barry's Chris Carlin, Florida Southern's Jude Estaquio and North Alabama's Ty Chandler.
Sophomore Ben Vertz (Coral Springs, Fla.) is second among NSU players, standing tied for 16th with an even-par 71. Peter Kolosvary (Sr., Safety Harbor, Fla.) follows in 40th place (+2) while Bobby Bode (Jr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and Byron White (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) stand tied for 50th place at three-over par.
The teams will be paired as they were Monday instead of pairing the field by scores.
