Men's Cross Country's Chwalek Selected as SSC Runner of the Week
Chwalek collects second SSC Runner of the Week accolade
Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2009) - For the second time in his career, Nova Southeastern University's men's cross country's Brendan Chwalek (Fr., Sellersburg, Ind.) was named the Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. Chwalek received the season's first SSC Runner of the Week on Sept. 8 after finishing fifth at the Greentree Invitational. NSU also collected SSC Runner of the Week honors on Sept. 14 as Matt Meagher (Sr., Mansfield, Mass.) being selected.
Chwalek led the Sharks at the flrunners.com Invitational 10 on Friday, finishing fourth. Chwalek broke his own 5K school record by covering the course in a time of 16:12.14 - three seconds faster than his previous record of 16:15.42 set at the Greentree Invitational.
NSU is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when the Sharks travel to Lake Buena Vista, Fla., for the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic. The men's 8K race is scheduled for 7:45 a.m., while the women's 5K is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
