NSU Men's Basketball Picked Eighth In SSC Pre-Season Poll

Sharks Looking For Newcomers To Replaced Graduated Talent

(Oct. 21, 2009) - The Nova Southeastern University men's basketball team was picked to finish in eighth place in the annual Sunshine State Conference Pre-Season Poll; it was announced on Wednesday morning. The Sharks tallied 43 points in the poll that was voted on by the SSC's men's basketball head coaches and sports information directors.

Florida Southern, the defending two-time SSC champion was the preseason favorite with 118 points. FSC just edged out Rollins, which ranked second in the poll with 114 points. The Mocs collected seven first-place votes, while the Tars received six. Voters do not rank their own teams when completing their polls.

Lynn, which collected two first-place nods, gathered 82 points to rank third in the poll. Eckerd's 73 points placed the Tritons fourth. Tampa received 64 points to appear in the fifth slot, while Florida Tech nipped at the Spartans' heels with 63 points. The Panthers received the three remaining first-place votes.

Barry (54), Nova Southeastern (43), and Saint Leo (37) occupied the final three slots in the preseason rankings.

The Sharks open their season on Monday, November 16th at University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. at 7 p.m.
