The Arena at the Don Taft University Center "The Shark Tank"
Nova Southeastern's Don Taft University Center, was completed in August of 2006. The revolutionary 366,000 square-foot, multi-use facility serves as a central hub for the NSU student community. The main arena, which seats up to 4,500 spectators, is the home for NSU's intercollegiate athletic program, and hosts all of NSU's volleyball and men's and women's basketball home games. With one main game court, the arena has two practice/game-ready auxiliary courts on the upper level.
The main court provides for over 1,000 permanent chair-back seats, while the upper level has over 3,000 automated telescopic chair-back seats when fully extended.The main arena also features 66 cushioned club seats overlooking the court, just outside of the donor/booster club room. Shark Club members and guest enjoy the comforts of a catered suite and a unique baseline view of the court.
The facility features team-specific locker rooms, equipment rooms, a team lounge and press room among many other amenities. Modern sports medicine and athletic training facilities for NSU's 250+ student-athletes are equipped with high-tech modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, diathermy, and a wide range of rehabilitation equipment, including the only HydroWorx Aquatic Therapy and Fitness Pool in the tri-county area.
The facility also has a fitness and wellness center that houses 98 pieces of StarTrac cardiovascular equipment and 84 pieces of StarTrac strength equipment. There are also a two-court multipurpose gym, three indoor racquetball courts; one convertible Squash Court, an Outdoor Swimming Pool (heated for the winter months), an Indoor 27-foot rock climbing wall and three multipurpose studios for group exercise and martial arts.
NSU Soccer Complex
The newly relocated NSU Soccer Complex consists of two fields, one practice and one game field. The game field is home for both the men's and women's soccer teams. Both fields come equipped with lights that allow for night practices and games. The game field features grandstand seating with a capacity of 1,000 spectators. In addition, a state-of-the-art drainage system was installed along with new turf, creating one of the best playing surfaces in the state of Florida.
The Orange Bowl Committee has entered into an agreement to use the NSU Soccer Complex as its official training site for one of its participants, which began with the 2003 FedEx Orange Bowl.
NSU Baseball Complex
The NSU Baseball Complex is considered by many to be one of the finest baseball facilities in South Florida. This fully-lit complex features an immaculate playing field with two outdoor batting cages. The grandstand seating can accommodate 500 people and has a fully functional press box.
Concessions and restroom amenities are also available for fans in attendance. The Baseball Complex has been the site of USA Baseball team trials and Major League Team pre-draft workouts.
AD Griffin Sports Complex
The AD Griffin Sports Complex is home to the NSU Softball
team. This complex features two practice fields and one game field. All
fields are equipped with lights that allow for night practice and games.
The main game field overlooks NSU's Health Professions Building. Located in the middle of the three fields is the press box area.
The AD Griffin Sports Complex was named in honor of Mr. A.D. Griffin, Sr.
Miami Dolphins Training Facility
The Miami Dolphins Training Facility is located on the
Nova Southeastern University main campus. Bow string trusses and a profile
reminiscent of classic athletic facilities define this state of the art
training facility of the Miami Dolphins football team, which includes
one of the largest weight rooms in the NFL, training rooms, locker rooms,
a therapy swimming pool, a cold plunge pool and whirlpools, numerous administrative
offices, and a practice field. It also has a bleacher building, which
can accommodate 2,000 spectators. The 56,000 square foot facility is frequently
used as a prototype for other professional football teams.
