CA Tolchinsky
Head Coach
With over 18 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level, Dr. CA Tolchinsky enters into her seventh season leading the Shark cheerleading team. Prior to coaching at NSU, she was the cheerleading coach at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Fla. and at Druid Hills High School in Atlanta, Ga. While at Chaminade, Tolchinsky built the cheerleading program to a nationally-ranked team.
The team competes each year at UCA College Nationals, landing in the Finals in 2009. Tolchinsky's 2008-2009 team received the Leadership award, in addition to four other titles at UCA College camp in Conn. Razor, the mascot, won first place in the mascot skit division. In 2009, NSU became the first SSC institution to ever finish as high as seventh in the nation.
Tolchinsky also was honored with the 2009 American Cheerleader Magazine's Who's Who of College Cheer Coaches Award. Additionally, Tolchinsky is a UCA and AACCA safety certified instructor.
Dr. Tolchinsky is an adjunct faculty member for the MGT 1001, mastering Student Success. Her doctoral dissertation was on athletic academic support programs.
Tolchinsky graduated from Kutztown University with a bachelor's degree in secondary education - communications and received her master's degree in reading instruction from Georgia State University. In 2009, she graduated with an EdD in organizational leadership from NSU. She resides in Plantation, Fla., with her husband, Larry, and two children, Bryn and Cade.
