Assistant Coach

Ryan  Romero Ryan Romero is entering his ninth season as an Assistant Baseball Coach for NSU. In-depth knowledge in the areas of hitting, defense and base running are among the many assets that Ryan brings to the NSU baseball program.

Ryan is responsible for practice planning and is heavily involved in the teams strength and conditioning program. Ryan is the coordinator of all NSU baseball camps, which are conducted year-round.

The Nova Southeastern University baseball team finished the 2008 season with a 31-21 record, including a 14-8 record in the Sunshine State Conference. The Sharks 14-8 record marked the team s best conference record since joining the SSC in 2005.

The Nova Southeastern University baseball team finished the 2007 season with a 36-19 record, marking the teams most victories in a season since joining the NCAA and the most wins in a season over the past 10 years for the baseball program. The 2007 Sharks set multiple program records including a 12-game winning streak and an 18-game home winning streak. NSU began the season 25-4, which stands as the best start in program history, and tied the programs highest national ranking as they rose to as high as 13th in the Collegiate News National Poll.

In 2006, the NSU baseball team posted a program-best 33-19 NCAA mark, including a third-place finish in the Sunshine State Conference with a 14-10 record in league play. The two teams that finished ahead of NSU in the standings were 2006 NCAA DII National Champions University of Tampa and 2005 NCAA DII National Champions Florida Southern College.

Ryan brings proven leadership, successful playing experience, a passion for the game of baseball and a genuine interest in developing successful student-athletes for the Sharks.

He joined the Nova Southeastern baseball coaching staff in 2000, after gathering extensive experience in South Florida as both a player and coach. Ryan was a standout at Chaminade-Madonna Preparatory School as a three-year letterman, being selected twice to the all-county team. He also received the Leadership Award on his prep team as a senior in 1993.

Ryan attended Palm Beach Atlantic College where he played two years of baseball and received a bachelors degree in wellness and exercise science.

He has coached at numerous camps and clinics, including an assistant coaching position for Team O.N.E. Sports Camp in Hollywood. While coaching at Chaminade-Madonna, he accumulated a record of 19-9.

His goal for the NSU program is to assist his players in realizing their full potential while promoting dedication, discipline and determination.

Ryan and his wife Jessica live in Fort Lauderdale.
