Male and Female Athlete's of the Year
The award for Male and Female Athlete’s of the Year is given to two Senior student-athletes (female and male) for academic excellence. Cumulative GPA going into the last eight weeks of their senior year, difficulty of degree program, and contribution to the team are all factors in consideration for this award.
Anna Schmidtmann
Anna is a senior in her second year with the NSU women’s tennis team. She has maintained a 3.75 GPA throughout her college career.
She was recognized on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll in Spring 2005.
She has also been selected to the Spring 2005 All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and is an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
She is also a member of the Psi Chi Society and writes for the Residential Life Newspaper.
Michael Wangsness
Michael is a senior on the NSU men’s golf team and an Athletic Training Major. He has maintained above a 3.80 GPA for the last five straight semesters and currently holds a 3.83 GPA. Michael has also earned a sport on the Dean’s List consecutive semesters.
In February, Michael led the Sharks to their sixth-place team finish with a tie for sixth individually after a two-day total of 147 (74-73), marking the highest finish of his career at the AASU/ Southbridge Pirate Invitational. Michael also helped NSU claim the SSC title, as he shot a career-low 54-hole 228, during the 2004-2005 season.
